通过参加tagboat artfes 14来到会场东京增上寺,看看时间尚早云昭决定出去走走。出门映入眼帘的就是东京地标东京塔,云昭顿时萌发出要以东京塔为背景拍摄的想法。增上寺的老庙门在建筑群旁边,二战中被美军空袭炸毁,现在属于战后的彻底重建。佛教传入日本后形成几大流派,这里追随的是‘只管念佛 不管打坐’,本土化的理念得到统治阶层德川家的青睐,作为将军家的私人庙宇有些年头,其地位类比伦敦西敏寺。

尽管重建的庙门有了原先的轮廓,近看做工粗糙到不忍直视。庙门两边的护法金刚更是和讲究刚健骨骼,饱满血肉的京都‘庆’派佛像造型师没法比。好在下午临近黄昏的东京斜阳穿过庙门,在云昭的镜头里呈现出一派红晕的‘佛光’,艺术家抓住这一时刻把森亚和凌狼对峙的场面记录下来。

Temple Gate

Though my 1st joint exhibition is taking place inside the temple I couldn’t resist posturing Senya and wolf in front of the gate, which burnt to ash by air raids during WWII. Established as Nembutsu seminary (where prayer-chanting practice emphasized) as opposed to Zen seminary (where meditation rather than Clergyman’s teaching put to priority) Zojo temple has been the family cathedral for General Tokugawa and his heirs for years, think St. Paul / Westminster alike you get the image. Though the gate is really just a replica of the original, and the two Deva King guardians each side of the entrance are nowhere near those crafty sculptors at Kei schools at a closer look, never than less they grasped the essence of what was here. Tokyo’s shinny sunset casted unbelievably accurate glares through the gate and that was all the spot light I needed to stage the art.
